Take Note August: International Blogger of The Month

Last week I featured my UK Blogger of the Month and now it's my international choice's turn. I'm featuring Greer, who's blog you can find here. She's from New Zealand and her blog is a really stunning and creative blog. She posts outfit photos followed by her own short pieces of writing. I am in awe everytime I go on her blog and I'm hoping you will all love her too.

How did you get involved with blogging?

It all began with lookbook, I saw all those beautiful girls and handsome boys in the most magical places and scenes. It looked like everything was a fairytale. I want to be there. I want to be one of them someday.

Why did you choose to go for your non traditional approach to personal style blogging with the lovely pieces of writing you feature beneath your outfits?

I first wrote down love letters and diary entries. It was something which I thought hadn’t been done. I shared my secrets and poems. It was all romanticism. Then I added pictures, and told stories to people. I said what I said, and I meant it but I have taken some of them down and put a few away. I still have them saved and sometimes like to look back at my older letters. Those words remind me of how I used to be... but those days are gone and I am older. I don’t write as much as I did once before.

 

How would you describe your personal style?

At the moment, my style is mostly 90's pieces with more whimsical, girly things thrown on top.

I like pearl string necklaces, floral prints, button-up blouses with collars and dresses with puff sleeves, straw hats, lace-up boots with frilly white socks, and polka dots. Pretty things like that.

My drawers seem to be full of hand-me downs and charity shop clothing that I bring home from the store I volunteer at sometimes.

Does where you live affect your style?

People in this town, they are not all the same as me.. but I don’t mind.

Where do you take inspiration from?

Well, the things that I am inspired by the most are not real or do not exist to me. Is that wrong? I take inspiration from strangers and fictional book characters. I take my inspiration from people who I walk past on the street, and I may never see them again. This is a shame really. I don’t know who they are.

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would you choose to go and why?

I would like be anywhere near the English countryside.

What do you like to do when you're not blogging?

I like to be with my best friend; we drive around until we get lost and have to read maps to find our way back. We visit second-hand shops, explore the forests, and take photographs together. I like having someone around. But when I’m alone, I like to draw and paint pictures. I like to read novels. I like to go for walks. But I don’t like to be by myself.

Your photography is always stunning, when did you become interested in that?

Oh gosh, you are very kind. I became interested in photography not too long ago, at school we have an art department with a dark room and I began to develop pictures there. They never turn out good enough though. Most of my photographs are just taken in my garden or in the park down the street.

What is your favourite book, film and band?

For the film, the one that I absolutely adore is “Pretty in Pink.” I wish I was Andie Walsh. My favourite books of all time are “The Wind in the Willows” by Kenneth Grahame and “Wuthering Heights” by Charlotte Bronte. Lisa Mitchell is not a band, but she herself has the most beautiful voice a sings so nicely.

Do you have any style icons that you look up to?

I admire Sky Ferreira, James Dean, Alexa Chung, Florence Welch and my Grandmother. I miss her. My grandmother. I miss her.

Do you have any tips for anybody aspiring to start a personal style blog?
