Never Meant A Word of It

Top: Zara
Skirt: ASOS
Cardigan: H&M
Shoes: UO
Badge: SF Aquarium

Monochromatic dressing with a splash of colour is so much easier than any other way of dressing. If it wasn't coming into the warmer months I might have stuck to it. I felt quite french in this outfit and I've no clue why! I had a meeting about third year dissertation films and a night of watching As Told By Ginger at my friend Dom's house. It was a good one, one of those days that is perfect after the stresses of exams. I also ate far too many packets of Quavers.
I'm meant to be in post-production for the film I shot over Easter but things keep getting in the way so hopefully tomorrow we can start cracking on. I've also been offered an interview for a job as a producer for a short film in London over summer. The film has a budget and a professional crew which would be a great stepping stone for when I graduate as at the moment I'm only a pro at making films guerilla style with no budget at all. We shall see what happens!

Inspiration For The Week

This week saw the end of my second year of university and a sudden increase in celebrations. I went out for various friend's birthdays and danced til the early hours. I got back into the routine of watching a film   a day and I started to pack up my room to move home for the summer. It was a week of stress, relief, jubilation and excitement for things to come. Summer is here!
My favourites of the week.

Take Note: May's UK Blogger of the Month

Before we lose the rest of May, I want to share with you the UK Blogger of the Month. Hannah of Foxtail and Fern is such a stunning and stylish girl with a blog full to the brim of wonderful photographs. She agreed to do an interview for me below and I have a feeling you'll all be as fond of her style as I am.

How did you first get involved with blogging?

I first got involved after coming across a personal style blog written by a girl living in Singapore (I don't think it exists anymore). I'd never seen anything like it and after browsing her archives for about an hour I was transfixed. That was about 3/4 years ago, and now here we are!

Describe your personal style.
Simple and vintage-inspired.

Who are your style icons?
Other fashion bloggers for the most part, although I do also take inspiration from the likes of Alexa Chung, Chloe Sevigny, etc.

Where do you get your inspiration from?
A heck of a lot of it comes from the internet! But I also get inspired by people I see on the street, and by nature.

How does where you live affect your style?
I think I definitely dress more interestingly when I'm in Edinburgh, which is where I go to university. In Edinburgh you see a lot more diversity in the way that people dress in comparison to Coventry, which is the closest city to where I live when I'm home for the summer.

What's your favourite book, movie and band?
I don't really have a favourite book, but my favourite genre is sci-fi and fantasy. The same goes for movies and music, I don't really have any favourites, I just like lots of things!

What would be your perfect Saturday?
One where I'd wake up early and getting straight on the road to some obscure little English village where I'd spend the day browsing antique shops and visiting old country estates. Stopping on the way at a service station for breakfast would be fundamental! I love service stations because they remind me of going on holiday when I was younger.

If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?
Well the weather's really miserable here at the moment, so anywhere with sunshine would be nice.

What's one fashion faux pas you secretly love?
Oh I don't know! To be honest, I probably love loads of things that are considered to be a faux pas without actually realising that they are faux pas!

If you could live in one movie, which would it be?
Harry Potter! Oh the disappointment when I turned 11 and didn't get my letter.

Any tips for aspiring personal style bloggers?

Be a better blogger than I am and update frequently! Also, try putting some thought into where you take your pictures; I think a nice location can really make outfit photos stand out.

Silent Signs

Dress: H&M
Cardigan: H&M
Beads: Gift
Shoes: Urban Outfitters
Bag: Zara

One of the things I love about living in Leeds is the way that you always find fun things like this lurking around corners when you're walking around. Perfect photo opportunity!
Yesterday I sat my last exam and finished my second year of university. That's terrifying to say because it means only one more year here before I have to go out in the real world, find a job and move to London. I hate how fast university is disappearing because I love it here so much. It's become my home. I would happily stay in Leeds for a few years after graduation but the reality of job prospects is what it comes down to. Sigh, I hate having to be an adult.
Anyway, I went out to celebrate last night with a meal that involved sitting in a restaurant for three hours with twenty friends waiting eagerly for our food and then dancing in town in the bar next door to the club we paid to get into. It was a good farewell to the stresses of second year and a good welcome to summertime.

Sometimes

Dress: F21
Cardigan: Topshop
Necklace: ASOS
Shoes: Urban Outfitters
Headband: Primark

Today I learnt the hard way that I'm just not cut out for the world of hairbands. I think of them now as torture devices. I inflicted myself with a headache just from wearing this feathered number. It didn't help that it was worn to a revision session but I'm still gonna blame the headband.
Any excuse to get out of the house/library is jumped upon in the land of exam period. Today, I got lunch and chatted for hours before finally giving in and revising with Mel. It's my last exam tomorrow and I'm already acting as if I've finished. Tut tut Chloe!
But tomorrow I really will be finished and then the madness will begin. I've got trips, nights out, meals, gigs and other fun things all jammed into the next few weeks before I move home for the summer. It also involves a lot of bonding time with my bed as I catch up on all the sleep this rubbish stress has cost me. Oh, how I've missed you bed!

Birthday Wish List

My 21st birthday is coming up and for once when I was asked what I wanted I didn't have a clue what to ask for. Normally there's something new I want like the camera I got for Christmas or my laptop I got for my 18th. Last year, I asked for flights to Canada which morphed into a short holiday to Sweden and Denmark. However, this year I was really drawing a blank so I decided to put together a wish list to gain some inspiration.

I've asked my mum for a sewing machine because my basic one broke after only hemming one dress. I'd love a mint green vintage Singer like this one but I will probably end up going for something a bit more modern just for ease of access.

Back in my office days, I splashed my steady income on a bulk lot of polaroid film. I recently snapped my last one and to my horror, it was expired so badly only half the image developed. Seeing my little polaroid 600 sitting on my desk all lonely makes me yearn for some more film. The impossible project have developed some new colour film but at the price they are, these will probably remain on the wish list.

I steered clear of the clog trend for a long time. All of last summer, I secretly lusted for these beauties but didn't want to commit to something that seemed a fad. They've come back around this summer and I can't ignore it anymore. I have to come out and say it, I want some clogs! This lovely brown color with the braided front and low heel are my idea of perfection.

The only jewellery I really wear is necklaces and turquoise rings. The locket I used to wear everyday has gotten discoloured so I started my hunt for a new one. I really like this silver one because it looks like there's a 'c' on the front and I like to put my name or initials on everything.

I have a soft spot for brooches but haven't bought one in a long time. This sweet little fox would be the perfect addition to my collection

I've started to build a little collection of prints that I display in my room and this one from etsy is great.

What kind of style blogger would I be if I didn't include some clothes and jewelry in this wish list as well.

I'm forever running out of notebooks so I always need some nice pretty ones to fill up with my scribbles.

Alternatively, I'd also take a ticket to Tokyo, Japan.
A girl can dream.

Inspiration For The Week

This week's favourites were a little bit delayed because I had an exam this morning at 9AM. It went surprisingly well and I feel confident. Saying that, I'll probably end up getting an awful grade. I've got one more left on Thursday but I've done my main bulk of revision already for it so no worrying here. I'm going to take tonight to watch a film that isn't on my reading list and chill out because I've been stressing far too much recently. Here's to (almost) freedom!
