Take Note August: UK Blogger of The Month

I'm so excited to share this month's Take Note with you. I've picked two fairly new bloggers whose style is really amazing and I think you should all definitely check out.
Firstly, we have Sarah of The Stylish Heart. Many of you will probably recognise her from my inspiration posts as she's a regular there. Her style is so quirky and I love the vintage spin she puts on outfits, even if they're from the high street. She has a talent for layering and I'd definitely love to climb inside her closet for a while. Sarah answered my questions below.

How did you get involved with blogging?

it started out with me checking out lots of blogs every day, and i really wanted to start my own but never felt that my style was great enough to base a whole blog on. then i thought, what the hell, and started one anyway!

Do you have any favourite blogs that you read on a regular basis?

my favourite blog is probably fashiontoast; whilst i dress nothing like rumi i really like the way she dresses and puts things together. i also love caroline from fashionsquads style.

How would you describe your personal style?

comfortable! i always dress for comfort, i'm really not one for high heels, for me they're just not practical. that's not to say i don't love them and wear them every now and again though! i think my style doesn't fit into one category such as 'girly' or 'minimal', i wear what i like and try not to put myself of my style in too much of a box.

Do you have any style icons that you look to for inspiration?

alexa chung, always alexa chung! her style is just.. beyond words. so easy yet so hard to recreate and look good in!

Do you think where you live affects your style?

without a doubt. i live in a small village, and the nearest city, whilst i love it, isn't a big city and real style is hard to find here. whilst that can be bad i do think that that makes me feel more stylish, living in a city where every other person looks amazing would probably make me feel unfashionable.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not blogging?

well, shopping, of course! i love going to the beach, or having a picnic in a park. i also go to the cinema as often as i can. i'm also thinking about joining a gym too...!

What's your favourite book, band and movie?

book - a piece of cake by cupcake brown, it's truly inspirational

band - the smiths! always has been, always will be. i also love the national and interpol, too.

movie - this is tough! i love so many; no county for old men, zodiac, pulp fiction, indiana jones and garden state.
Your look has a very vintage feel to it, when did you first get interested in vintage?

not that long ago, to be honest! i've only recent started visiting vintage shops as opposed to charity shops. i was visiting charity shop after charity shop but never seemed to find any gems, so i figured why not start having a look in a few proper vintage shops. i expected the prices to be higher, but i've found some great things lately and intend to carry on rummaging!

What's your favourite piece in your wardrobe?

definitely my spotted topshop dress. it's quite simple in pattern, but has these awesome bell-sleeves and is a great material. i just love it.
How has your style developed since you started blogging?

i think i put a bit more thought into what i'm wearing and when putting an outfit together. i try not to wear dull outfits. and i've realised the importance of shoes in making an outfit really stand out.

If you could spend a day anywhere in the world, where would it be?

i'm absolutely dying to visit america. my next 3 holidays will be to the following places - san francisco, new york and chicago. america truly fascinates me and i can't wait to visit.

Any tips for aspiring personal style bloggers?

firstly it's important not to buy into trends too much. i see lots of bloggers wearing the same 'it' shoes and whilst they're great, i get bored of seeing them. when someone's wearing too many 'key' pieces in an outfit it can look like they're trying too hard. also, just have fun with your style and your blog and don't take it too seriously!

Sarah is an inspiration to me and I really feel her style is something I aspire to be able to pull off one day. Check her blog out here because she's worth following!
The international installment will be up next week.
